Self-proclaimed pioneers of the strange and angry, Buckshot Princess was formed in April 2023 on the simple foundation that the true stories from the rural south deserved an audience at last.
Based out of Little Rock, Arkansas, the 5-piece outfit finds their niche by melding the atmospheric theatricality of goth rock with the lyrical storytelling of traditional folk and blues, building a frenetic brand of dark country that meets rockabilly in the sweetest spot.
Payton Marshall (lyricist, singer) spins stories of brutal violence, lost love, women scorned, religious trauma, and even the everyday mundane of rural southern life, into poetry that reads as wise warnings to the girl she used to be. Guitarists Evan Peck and Autumn Tomes brew a temperamental soundscape that evokes summer storms as easily as it does the quiet whispers of nostalgia. Bassist Katie Hooten and drummer Garrett lay down a driving, mean foundation that calls the faithful to forget themselves.
Operating on an independent DIY mindset, the band forgoes flashy technical production for raw instinct and blunt charm. Buckshot Princess has brought their executioner’s song to venues across the South, putting on a performance that has to be seen to be believed.
